In colabaration with the Oakville Photo Walks Meetup Group the OCC is excited to present out first outing of the year.

Good Evening Real Time Shooters.

This event is created with Real time Practice shooting with your gear to practice your Shutter Speed Techniques.
This will be taking place at the Milton Velodrome at 6 pm.

We will be meeting OUTSIDE of this Location first, to discuss the rules and regulations.

We will only be shooting from the top bleachers without interference for others trying to watch cyclists practice.
There are no guarantees for groups of cyclists to be on the floor, as there are no current Professional racing events booked this day or month

There will be a $20 fee for those outside of the OCC.
All Proceeds will go to the Fare Share Food Bank Oakville
If you can't pay the $20, any food bags with donations would be
appreciated.

We will be giving you tips and tricks to captures your best image.
Any great images that you capture can be posted within this page
for others to learn and discuss the techniques.

Don't wait for the last minute to book, since there will be limited space for shooters in the bleachers.

EXPLORATIONS #25 “The Self-Assignment”
Date: February 20 th
Submission Deadline: Midnight February 18th
The Explorations series is about pushing personal boundaries by experimenting with subjects
and techniques that are outside of one’s comfort zone. By building new skills and developing
our creative expression, we can discover additional tools and techniques to improve our work
and create the increased satisfaction that comes from great results.
This exploration offers the opportunity to select something that you would like to explore. Not
your favourite specialty or a provided task, but something new you would like to master. It
might be a new subject, a new technique, a new tool or any combination.
After selecting a personal exercise, it’s best to proceed in a series of steps.
First, take enough time to prepare. Research how others have approached the task and
evaluate possible approaches and methods that you might use.
Second, go for a walk or find that special place where ideas have enough time to surface from
your unconscious – incubate and let your mind make new connections.
Third, experiment through trial and error, learning as you generate alternative solutions to the
project.
Forth, select the best solutions from your work and create your final ideas for presentation.
Fifth, wait a few days. Take time to step back and take a fresh look at the results. Make any
changes that will improve your images.
Submit up to three different solutions. Max size 5 MB and please put your name first in the

15 Minutes of Photography Fame

Presentations can be 15-30 minutes long.

As a celebrated award-winning photographer and director, Dan has spent his career developing and honing his craft, photographing people to a tee. His diverse body of work and experience over the years allows him to adapt and appeal to a large range of clientele. Using his ability to engage and energize anyone in front of his lens, he delivers a proven track record of vibrant and impactful imagery capable of bringing any campaign and photoshoot to life.

Marlis Butcher is an environmental conservationist, author, and photographer.
She is very active with the Bruce Trail Conservancy, protecting the Niagara Escarpment, a UNESCO World
Biosphere Reserve, by volunteering
 on the Board of Directors and
 as the Trail Director for the Toronto Bruce Trail Club.
Marlis is a member of The Explorers Club, an international organization promoting field exploration,
where she volunteers as the Membership Director for the Canadian Chapter.
She is also a Fellow of the Royal Canadian Geographical Society.
Marlis has published various conservation related articles including for the
 Royal Canadian Geographical Society,
 The Explorers Club’s “Far Afield” magazine,
 The Weather Network’s “Canada Uncovered” episode 2,
 “Bruce Trail Magazine”, and
 her neighbourhood “Village Voice” newsletter.
Marlis’s photographs have been featured in
 Canadian Geographic,
 CBC News on-line,
 Canadian Encyclopedia, and
 the travel brochures of various wilderness outfitters.
Marlis describes herself as a “Park Bagger”, someone trying to visit all the National Parks of Canada.

This summer Marlis became the first visitor to have been to all the national parks, reserves, and urban park. While visiting her 47 th park, Ukkusiksalik on the northwest corner of Hudson Bay, Nunavut, Parks Canada announced a new park, Thaidene Nene – which Marlis intends on visiting in 2020. She is writing a book tentatively entitled “Adventures in the Canadian National Parks”, to share the “park experience”. Her book will be published by Rocky Mountain Books for release in Spring 2021.
