When: Meet up at Beamer Memorial Conservation Area for 10 AM (meet up at QE Park at 9 AM for the car pool option). How to get there, take the QEW to Grimsby, get off at highway 12, go south to Ridge Road west, turn right and go west to Quarry Road and follow the signs go Beamer Memorial Conservation Area and park by the tower. Upper Beamer falls is a short hike away and is a ramp waterfall. Other highlights include the potential sighting for hawks and turkey vultures, hiking along the local trails and landscape photography overlooking Grimsby and Lake Ontario. They have a couple of bird feeders setup. The tower is used daily by the Niagara Peninsula Hawk Watch organization. The link below can show you the current counts by species. Cost: Free What to take: Sturdy footwear, hiking boots or shoes. Bug spray (it’s mosquito season) Sunscreen A good tripod Wide angle or normal lens for falls and landscape Long telephoto for birds and wildlife Neutral Density filters, an ND8 or ND10 will slow the shutter speed to give you that silky water look at 200 or 100 ISO (depending on camera brand).
