Subject: Communication from the President on COVID-19 Update to Oakville Camera Club Members

 Dear Valued Member of the Oakville Camera Club;

I hope this letter finds you safe, healthy, and well.  We all were very encouraged over the summer months to see that Ontario had moved into Reopening Ontario - Phase of the COVID-19 recovery.  Please visit https://www.ontario.ca/page/reopening-ontario for further information.

 With respect to the concern over the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), the leadership of the Oakville Camera Club continues to remain proactive.  By monitoring the situation locally, understanding the ongoing developments, and adjusting our strategy accordingly, we hope to keep providing opportunities to you, our photographers, in a friendly, and supportive environment.  We strive to explore opportunities where we can contribute through the photographic arts, and offer knowledge sharing opportunities amongst our members.

 As a valued member of the Oakville Camara Club family, in light of the recent developments mentioned above, we continue to make many adjustments and implement a number of impactful changes.  We continued to be in direct communication with the Town of Oakville.  We are excited by our upcoming 2022 programming, and are pleased with the progression of our current plans to return to in-person meetings at Queen Elizabeth Park Cultural and Community Centre.  We do understand that many of you are concerned and apprehensive about the future, and our return to in-person sessions.  As such, we have reached out to the Town of Oakville and QEP with questions around proof of vaccine, and how it would affect our group going forward.  I wanted to start by saying thank you for your patience as we gathered and planned for the implementation.

 In accordance with Province of Ontario requirements, the Town of Oakville has implemented the following:

    1. Masks are no longer required at most town facilities
    2. Proof of Vaccination program is NO LONGER REQUIRED to enter Town facilities.
    3. On March 19, Halton Region repealed the Regional Mask By-law.  Effective March 21, mask wearing is no longer required to enter any town facility, with the exception of public areas within the transit facility and on town buses. While masking will no longer be mandatory, it is important to remember that people will have different comfort levels with the lifting of various COVID-19 restrictions.
    4. The town supports residents and their choice to continue the personal protective practices that make them feel comfortable and encourages residents to continue following public health guidance:

OCC 2022 Programming - Looking Forward:

We are continuing to review our 2022 programming as we slowly move back into an in-person meeting program, included planning workshops and outings.  We continue to plan for a return to an in-person Photography Exhibition and Gala  for our 16th Annual Capture Oakville Photography Competition.

 Be assured we will do everything we can to continue to serve our Members safely, and will continue to closely follow the guidance of the Health Canada, the US Centre for Disease Control (CDC), and both Ontario provincial authorities, and local health officials.  We need to practice ongoing physical and social distancing, and it is is imperative to follow these guidelines when participating in group gatherings.

 Stay Safe everyone!
