Discovering Urban Landscapes - An Open Invitation for Members

Urban landscape photography provides enormous opportunities for observation, discovery and

for capturing unique perspectives on how humans build, design, arrange and alter urban spaces in towns, cities, and other large communities. This type of photography seeks to capture the essence of human influence and experience in urban spaces, structures, and environments.

Unlike street photography, the urban landscape is not about photographing people (although it they may be included), or just architecture, but rather seeks to capture the results of human decisions about urban spaces and our experience of the results. This may include a combination of both man-made as well as natural elements, such as parks, rivers. lakes, mountains etc. if they are part of the urban space.

Urban landscape photography often combines the dynamic elements of built environments, public spaces, natural resources, cultural influences, and human activities. These images can have a significant impact on our perceptions of everyday life and creates lots of opportunities for sharing thoughts, ideas, and values about life in urban spaces. It’s a chance to discover new ways to evaluate life both locally or wherever you travelled this summer that's part of an urban ecosystem.

This is a chance for OCC to dig deeper into the use of photography to enhance our understanding of the worlds we create and communicate important aspects of how the urban environments are constructed and are changing. The session will be organized around your images and views about the subject.

• The influence of architecture in shaping urban life.

• How local and regional culture shapes human experience.

• The impact of natural resources in municipal environments.

• Metropolitan transportation systems and the effects on behavior.

• Recreation and relaxation in the inner-city.
