About the event
About Meaghan:
Over the past sixteen years, I've dedicated my career to capturing the mysterious and awe-inspiring
beauty beneath the surface of our waters. My work explores the intricate relationship between humans
and nature, focusing on themes of environmental conservation and the fragile ecosystems that exist in
our oceans, lakes, and rivers.
I'll be sharing my journey—a journey that has taken me from the depths of the Great Lakes to the remote
vibrant reefs of Raja Ampat, Indonesia. I'll discuss the stories behind some of my most meaningful
images, many of which have been exhibited internationally, from the Art Gallery of Ontario to the
prestigious Le Festival L’Homme et la Mer in France.
I'll also take you behind the scenes, revealing the technical challenges and successes of underwater
photography. Ever wondered what it’s like to capture a moment of serenity amidst the chaos of the deep
sea? Or how I manage to navigate these underwater worlds with the help of specialized gear and
extensive diving certifications? We’ll dive into all of that, including how my experiences collaborating
with Indigenous communities and sailing aboard a vessel in the Caribbean have influenced my work.
